Challenging the Carbon Charge

This is outside the federal election period as it would be another two weeks before the writ was dropped. It was also clearly part of the Ford platform in the provincial election. However, in the soft campaign leading up to the election the challenge to Trudeau's policy can be read as an intervention in the federal election.

Challenging the Carbon Charge

Subject: The cost is real

XXXX, we got hit with the federal carbon tax back on April 1.

The cost is real.

Gas for your car is more expensive. Natural gas is more expensive.

Heating your house this winter is going to be more expensive.

And the feds are cranking up the price every year.

By 2022 it’ll cost each household an extra $648 a year.

And the federal government is admitting the carbon tax could cost Ontarians even more of their hard-earned money.

Honestly, XXXX, I don’t know what these people don’t understand:

Politicians shouldn’t make your life more expensive.

We’re taking it to the Supreme Court of Canada.

You shouldn’t have to pay a federal carbon tax.

Not when we have our own plan.

Not when our carbon emissions are already down.

Let’s stand together in this fight XXXX.

Click here to pitch in $2 to fight the next election.
