April 2 2019: "If it's popular to say I'm a Populist, I'm a Populist"

Subject: I call it listening

XXXX, folks out there have a lot of names to call me.   One of them they seem to think is bad, is calling me a populist.   I’m not sure why they think it’s a bad thing.   I call it listening.   But not to the full-time protesters. Not to the full-time activists or lobbyists.   I listen to the people who aren’t paying attention to politics day in day out.   The people who are working hard to get by.   The people of Ontario.   That’s why I’m fighting so hard every day in Queen’s Park and travelling across the province.   Because folks need help.   And I want to give it to them.   That’s why I’m fighting the carbon tax.   That’s why I lowered the tax on gas, home heating, and why I’m fighting to lower your hydro bill.   That’s why I’m cutting red tape left and right, so everyone who wants a job can get one.     Let’s keep Ontario moving.   And if they call that populism, I guess I’m a populist.   Doug Authorized by the CFO for the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario.
